I use my JBL charge 4 Bluetooth speaker for playback when running material.

2 Options:
1st option - for silent practice, I've got an Ampeg SCR-DI. Everything plugs into the Ampeg -- headphones, mp3 player and bass.
2nd option - I've got 2 amps that have Aux In. I can play my bass along with the mp3 player thru either or I can play bass thru one and the mp3 player thru the other. And both heads have headphone jacks also if I want. Also neither one requires a speaker load, so I can use them alone.

Cheap studio monitors are worth the money. I use a pair of m-audio bx5. If you want it really loud, then PA speakers is my suggestion.

i don't do "loud" for the sake of it, generally, but i'm using fairly substantial studio monitors for playback (12" drivers) so i can crank it if i want to go that route. also: monitoring at lower levels can teach you about your playing in a way that 'loud-for-loud's-sake' often misses --- and of course, the reverse can be true = you can turn it up to monitor/hear all of your slop!
i've never used a bluetooth speaker/rig for anything: i definitely haven't seen any that were 'bass worthy'. so i'm not sure what your version of "loud" is.
if i'm really in need of practice = i don't need any amplification.

I've used decent PC speakers in the past that were fine. You just need something more substantial than Bluetooth speakers. I don't think a PA system is really necessary, but would of course work. I use studio monitors currently. Headphones are great too if you have a way to run your bass into whatever is playing the music.
I use bluetooth speakers, either a Bose mini soundlink, or a Marshall Stockwell 2.
Both are plenty loud for me... I never play/practice with really loud volume at home. My combo is about 2 meters away on my left, while the speaker is also 2m away on my right, at ear level height.
When I need to hear all the bass notes and need crank up the volume higher... like when learning new song... I use my Palmer pocket amp and headphones or in-ear monitor.

Depends on which chair I drop into, but none involve my actual amps:
1) Office Chair - Audio interface on PC - Studio monitors or headphones out
2) Stool - DI pedal + loop pedal on the floor - Aux In from audio source, headphones out
3) Couch - Vox Amplug - Aux in from cell phone, headphones out

I have a small mixer. Only one of its channels has EQ, so the external source goes into that channel and I turn the lows almost completely off to get rid of the bass on the recording. My bass goes into another channel. Headphones into "phones out". That's all.
