What do you wear when you play gigs?

In response to 51PRI's post above this one (I can't get the "quote" thing to work right half the time which is why it sounds like I brought up "flatcaps" originally which I didn't. Just responded to someone else who did. I quoted him but it didn't end up looking like a quote. But I digress.........).
Anyway, this is a flat cap which comes in many slightly different styles as well as colors. And this isn't a pic of me. Random web search capture.

There is no right or wrong here. If the question is how do you dress ‘cool’, I think there are some general rules. Avoid frumpy ‘dad’ clothes. Loose jeans, white comfy sneakers and leisure clothes are out. A band is always safe wearing black. If you’ve got a belly wear a shirt designed to be worn untucked. Shoes should be on the flashy side - boots or something dressy but a little swanky. Jeans should be fitted and typically torn. Again, wear whatever you want, if you want to step up you’re game from the dad look to band look these are some general guidelines.

Now there's a band that understood the assignment.

LOL. This thread reminds me of something my wife said to me the other night as I was heading out to a recording session. I had on black jeans, a black t-shirt, and black Doc Martin shoes.

The missus says "I see you're wearing your musician's outfit."

:)

Yeah. I said it before: When it doubt, a musician can never go wrong with stage-hand-black.

I found that using open E tuning (EBEG#BE) makes it a lot easier to translate from bass/guitar.
Interesting. I'm too far down E9 to change at this point. I will say that having AB pedals down basically throw your cord over one bass string is still a major point of reference for me. As is having the cords ascend up the neck like going up the E string.

Ok, despite my earlier comment, that is a pretty cool cap.

Most bands here dress casually at gigs. I typically wear jeans, a henley shirt, running (comfortable) shoes, and a hat of some kind. The rest of the band dresses similarly. We have an upcoming gig at a nearby casino (our first time there) which stipulates no jeans. And that's not a problem. I have some Old Navy black khaki type pants that I will wear that are very comfortable.

I guess I'm just curious as to what everyone wears for gigs.
I've always like this suit; shows a real sense of style.
