What does 'keyswitch' mean????

Hi

I am making some music using my bass and some vst orchestral instruments that use 'keyswitches' - does anybody know what this means??? I have the manual but it won't explain what a keyswitch is, just how to use it.

Thanks!

Some of the keys on the piano keyboard are used to switch articulations
On the gui these keys will usually show up as light pink translucent color
When you press then the make no sound but will change the sound of the other keys.
If you have a midi controller with buttons or pads you can move the key swtiches off to these and key the keyboard just for sounds.
