What does your bass sound like unplugged?

If your bass doesn't sound good unplugged, you might be able to get a decent sound out of it with good pickups. Then again you might not.

If you bass sounds good unplugged then those pickups it will make it sound fantastic.

Out of all the basses I've played in shops I've plugged in about 10% of them. IMO there's no point in hearing any bass though an amp if it doesn't sound good acoustically.

Before I even play a bass I check how I like the feel of the bass--if I don't like that--then no point in playing it--then if I like it--play it unplugged--then if it's good that way--plug it in.
With my SR500F I knew I was going to buy it as soon as I held it.
I didn't really need to play it or plug it in & play it before I bought it.
Although I did.
