What Else Can I Do?

What else can I do to my bass that's not a waste of time and money?

I have an Ibanez Soundgear Gio and I put active EMG pickups in it and new strings. I was hoping getting it setup would make it play faster, but no luck. I'd love to get a Jazz Bass, but then my spouse, who gave me this bass, would cry an effin' river.

I need to ask, how long have you been playing?
Setup can HELP your bass play faster, but the BASS doesn't need to play faster, YOU do.
