What Frequency Response is Actually Needed for Low Tuning?

i didn't catch exactly what kind of bass guitar @Will_White was going to use to get G0 tuning

the dirty little secret in all this is that unless it was like six feet long, a bass string tuned to G0 will produce almost none of that fundamental to begin with, it's just not there.

you mostly get the first octave and all the upper partials "implying" that low note

hell, the "31Hz" of a 5-string low B string barely produces any of that fundamental, even at 35" it's already too short for that low a pitch. as you go lower it gets worse, the string mostly produces sour ("inharmonic") upper partials and noise

in other words, don't bother with all this, just use a strong regular bass rig, it'll be fine

if you really want to push out 35-40Hz on stage and annoy the soundguy and the other players, just go buy a big powered PA sub and put it under your regular bass rig

It's a custom with a 42" scale, also a 34" scale but that one I've already rung what I can get out of it with a keyboard amp.
