What fuzz/OD would you suggest for these needs?

Yep, but I play more jazz fusion and funk. I don't deal with those types of guitars anymore. In fact, I'm still not sure if I am bringing a guitar player onto the project yet.

Along with the IE Oxide, the Mastotron is my go to for synthy/gated fuzz

Agree, my Rat Tail is PERFECT for me at low to low/medium. Even more perfect before my Mantic Vitriol or Joyo OJ but I digress...

For what it's worth I've been able to create some great synthy style fuzz sounds with the Aftershock. Currently I've got a great Time Is Running Out style fuzz by stacking the bass gated fuzz with the smoked glass D5M (I believe their take on the Woolly Mammoth and B3K) but an absolutely insane synth style foldover fuzz that absolutely frightens my girlfriend and my cats! Also been working on a great Exit Music fuzz sound too.

I swear by the Aguilar Agro for the sound you are describing. With the Saturation knob maxed, you get a massive, but smooth distortion that still retains a full low-end. AND this thing pairs insanely well with the OC-2, which adds another dimension to the sound (almost sounds like a faux fuzz).

I've found the 3Leaf Audio You're Doom (now Doom) works really well with an OC2. Great for Synthy tectures. You can also use it without the Octave for synth by rolling off you tone and blending in the clean tone.

I've also used it for more traditional fuzz purposes and it's pretty good there. Well worth checking out if you don't find enough synth with your current choice.

One pretty killer distortion pedal is the bogner red ecstasy. It can do some milder almost OD stuff but is seriously sizzling. It has a 3 band EQ and a boost with separate gain/ volume controls. Sadly at least on my older model the boost isn't independent or I haven't figured out how to use it alone at least.

The coolest part are the many voicing. It has mellow tight and full modes which each have different gain levels and dynamics.

Then it has a pre EQ selector which changes the EQ voicing I believe.

Then there is the structure switch which goes from 3 different models, 100, 101 and 20th anniversary. Each has different characteristics, 20th is especially sizzling and when in full mode can get some quasi fuzz like smoking tones.

Then it has a variac power switch. When on it reduces the power dropping the volume and gain and adding some "sag". This switch effects the dynamics too.

Personally it is too hot for my tastes and can only clean up so much. I may sell or trade mine eventually but I have held onto it because it is such a smoking diverse distortion.

But i like getting those quasi lefevbre edm sounds, and i dont want to bite his chain, but build my own thing. Only same pedal is the oc2. I love the classic boss pedals a lot. Its a great one.

This stuff is tough to describe. Probably why we all try so many damn pedals.

Good luck with the Demon - definitely a great choice. If it doesn't work out, your posts really made me think SS/BS Mini

Blower Box - pretty darn awesome pedal, but for what I am doing it's very tough to use without having a pretty big volume boost, no matter how I use it. If I was doing heavy, grinding music, this pedal would be staying.

Fuzzollo - just a square WAV of fuzz. Nothing subtle there. Really cool pedal, but it was more output than I needed

Pork Loin (John K modded) - This was real close. I know Lefebvre made this his go to, so you would think that would be fine, but I'd like to try and keep the pedal size smaller and also have something with a little more warmth to it.

I'm leaning towards the MXR Bass Distortion but open to other suggestions. I like mainstream makers a lot - Boss..DOD..MXR etc. But anything in the $150 range is fair game.

If you're willing to spend a bit more, you could get a Dunwich ODB or even something custom. I have a custom built Muff-based fuzz from him. The fuzz control can go from essentially nothing to very light OD to full on fuzz. It's actually pretty versatile.

Initial impressions on the Demon are vey very good. I think this is going to work quite well. I am not the type to overthink pedals. Once I find something good, I move on to working it into a set and figuring out when I can engage it.

It sounds freaking great after an octave and filter. My acid test (since I only have 5 pedals) is if they all sound good together when engaged. Yes they do. I am really digging the Demon set with volume at around 12, Tone a little under 12 and Gain at around 2. A really sick sound I already wrote an idea to is with the Demon on followed by the Chorus. I then use the OC2 on the B section for big impact and back it off for the verse. Just rotating different combos of these 3 effects is awesome.

Anyway, I'll give it more time, but I love how this thing sounds. I guess I was just looking for a controllable OD/Fuzz that was thicker and more focused in the low mids than the highs.

Appreciate everyone's help. And I am very impressed with Fuzzrocious!
