What genre is represented most on TB????

I know there are heaps of bassists on here and just wondered, is there a genre that is more represented? Jazz, country maybe?

I know most (def not all) will play a variety of different genres and styles, but you can only choose one. You have to pick just one for each question

Maybe 2 questions,
1) What music do you mainly play?
2) What music do you mainly listen to?

I mainly play rock and listen to a lot of stuff... but if I have to choose I think I'll go with prog rock (like VDG, King Crimson, ELP, Rush, etc...)

Probably Rock and Metal. I'm mostly an R&B, Funk guy and we are sorely unrepresented here. In fact, there are a ton of slap bass haters on this forum! Which I find to be the silliest thing ever!

I do play and listen to a lot of styles including R&B, Funk, Jazz, Latin, Classic Rock, Reggae, Motown, Beach Music (A VA and NC thing), Disco and NeoSoul.

What's the best genre for metal?

I play in different bands (couple of cover bands and one originals), but it comes down mosty to rock, but also some pop, soul and jazz.
The musical styles I listen to are much wider than ones I play, but thay have to be played by people on natural instruments, in a reproduceable way. No techno(ish) music for me, thanks.

Almost every band I hear this community talk about are cover bands (usually southern rock and country)..
Unfortunately..

I almost exclusively play jazz/rock or jazz fusion.
Occasionally classical and I play in a praise band.

What's the best genre for metal?

There are WAAAAAAAAY too many genres of metal to even START that conversation. I can't keep up with all the "emos" and "cores".
