I also wouldn't pass over the higher-end models from the established German workshops/families like Dörfler, Durrschmidt, Dölling, and Pfretszchner. They're not really going to be customizable like a commission, but they still put out very good playing and sounding bows.

It's worth noting that some bow makers have *very* long wait lists. Last I heard Sue Lipkins' waitlist is about ten years?
