What Happened to all the SX Love?

I don't come around here as much as I used too I will admit. But not long ago anytime I came on here there were 2-3 threads on SX basses of some kind all the time. Now I hardly ever see them...why? Is the Squier the new/old kid in town :smug: SX= old news?

I haven't been around as much either. Last time I was on, SX was transitioning from the old style headstock to the new style. That turned a lot of SX fans off, me included.
Incidentally, one of the bands we played with last weekend, the bass player had an old SX 5 string Jazz that sounded great! Also, someone has an old SX Jazz for sale locally. I thought about buying it, but he modded it and I'm not a fan of buying stuff that's over modded.

The ugly headstock happened... IMHO... or at least as far as I'm concerned.

They're providing the standards, but they're not following the trends of mixing things up (other than the Jag copy) most specifically with their 5-string offerings looking anemic spec and versatility wise since the headstock change.

I was just on Rondo's website and I don't think those SX basses are anything that special. They look like a bunch of Squier knockoffs to me. I'd rather spend a little more money and have a Squier, which I do.

I'm still a major SX fan and gig them regularly. I bought at least 5 of them before the headstock change and have no real need to conitinue posting rave reviews, there are plenty of reviews on here just use the search function. IMO the new headstock isn't as cool as the old one but I don't need any more basses anyway so I don't care what they do with the design.

Nowadays I'm into building parts basses and I almost always incorporate some SX parts. Their pickups are especially great. My newest build should be done today - Squier Bello body w/ skull graphic, SX P/J pickups, Modulus grahite neck (Ibanez headstock), DR fluorescent green strings. Can't wait! :hyper:

Well you kind of said what I thought all along and why I was being a little bit of a smart @ss with this post. Even when SX was a hit and many were buying them and owned them there would be allot of threads asking the same questions over and over..no search was ever used. WAIT! this is TB...we do this all the time! Sorry I have had allot of blow's to the head in my time...move on :)

Rondo who? When you can get these for $199. Or 'will' be able to soon.

Just waiting for some new colors is all, I love my SX Ursa 6 I really want a 5, a 4 and eventually a P with a jazz neck.

I really do think they are great headstock is kind of a turn off but not that bad.
