What head would you buy and why?

I'm looking to get a new head. I'm replacing my Peavey Mini Max. I'm looking at a several different heads.
1. Bugera Veyron Tube
2.Orange Terror Bass
3. Fender Bassman 500
4.Quilter Bass Block 800
5.Darkglass Microtubes 500
6.Genzler MG800
I know it's a lot. That's my problem. They all tick all the boxes. But I just don't know. I'm using a Peavey Headliner 112 as my cab.

The Veyron is tempting because it's the least expensive. But I'm real interested in the quilter.

For the price, it’s a very good amp. I run it though an upgraded Ampeg V4 4x12 cab with 4 Basslite s2012 neo speakers and it is knock down punchy. That was the rig I used in my last gig and it really sounded good. If you can, play it before you buy it. If you like the sound, go for it; it’s solid.

Unfortunately despite living in a major city I cannot find these amps locally. Well one or two I probally can find. But it's quite a shame.

Work, the peavey sounds fine but it died on stage. It's currently on a amp tech's bench. I'm waiting to hear back. I'm going to fix it if possible but I need a backup apparently.

However I do like a high gain breakup and a tube preamp should give me a bit of drive.

Ahh yes. So the answer to my question would be..."I want it to actually work"

If it were me, the Genzler would be the obvious choice from that list because of the extra power and better preamp than the Quilter. If you don't need the power and want the overdrive, go with the Darkglass.

But from that list, the Genzler is the most versatile. I wouldn't consider the Genzler, Darkglass, or Quilter to be a backup to a Peavey though.

If you want breakup, scratch the Quilter.

Well I had a Bugera Veyron M for about 44 days and I hated it, so it's gone. I had a Darkglass M500 for almost as long and liked it better, but it had issues and I could not get the low end I wanted from it. So it's gone too.

I have a Genzler Magellan 800 and it is heads and shoulders above the other two. Plenty of low end, plenty of power, thick prominent notes, nice usable Drive, ridiculously versatile and reliable. And the construction screams quality.

And I also have the newer Orange Terror Bass and that amp is my favorite of all the ones you have listed. Ridiculous amount of power at 500 watts, ridiculous amount of low end (flat is treble off, mids maxed and bass off although I run it at 9:00, 4:00 and 9:00), thick prominent notes even on the D and G strings, beautiful cleanish tone with a hint of drive with gain below 10:00 and a growl/distortion/compression that makes the Darkglass sound fizzy.

I have no experience with the Bassman or the Quilter. So there is my 2 cents. Hope it helps.

Edit: I should also add that the Orange and Genz Benz Streamliner are the most tube like hybrids I have ever used.

I use a Mesa D-800 and I like it a lot.

After going through over 20 amps, I became an Eden lover, but when I heard a Genz Benz Streamliner that was it. Bought a Streamliner 900 and have no need or interest in any other amp.

Stickin' to dimensions and possibilities of just a 1x12" cab, I'd tell Orange Terror or Darkglass 500... not favs of mine at all, but better fittin' your rig IMHO
