What Headphones Do You Use When Playing (if any)

I know a lot of you out there must play through headphones from time to time, like when blastong through the amp isnt an option or you live in an apartement. So like the topic asks. what type of headphones do you plug into your amp or soundboard when you have to keep it quiet?

I use a JBL set that I get when I renew my cell contract. They work fine. Don't spend to much in fancy brands.

I didn't buy them bass originally, but I've really come to like my AKG M240s for it. They have a... spaciousness to them; I'm not quite sure how to describe it, they don't feel like they're blasting right next to your head, as though you're listening to regular speakers. They're also nice and light. I used some Sennheiser HD280s a few years ago, and they sounded good, but make the wrong move and their weight could carry them a good few feet. The AKGs don't hold as tightly, but they also don't really need to.

Get some AKGs.

Thanks for this recommendation. I have a neighbor who's home 24/7 and has not lost ANY hearing, and the phones I've been using just don't cut it if I'm going to practice regularly using them.

I bought a set of Audio Technica M30s and was REALLY disappointing in them. I ended up going with a pair of $20 Sony's from Walmart that I think sound much better and give a better bass response. The higher priced AT stuff would have been nice but it was out of my price range but I think the M30s leave a lot to be desired.

I use the Etomytic ER4 MicroPro Earbuds. They are pricy at $300 bucks but the noise canceling really works well even when placed next to your favorite, hard-hitting drummer. Use em in the studio too.

Another thing about the DT770's that I've found is they are very flat-sounding (in a good way). They will take your bass signal (at a normal volume) and not flinch. I had Sony MDR7506 (purchased in 1993) which must have been designed with the bass signals boosted for a little more oomph. Both are a great set of cans, but I'd give the BeyerDynamic a higher mark for overall crispness.
