What if's?

Does anyone here have any big "what if's" in their life? Like something you wish you had done, but didn't, or something that you did do that you wonder what would have happened if you hadn't?

For me, my big what if is my decision to drop out of major university, and pursue music full time (while attending community college.) Obviously it is a very unwise choice in the real world, but there was seriously no other choice for me. I would have driven myself insane if i hadn't... but then again, what if.....

I know exactly what I should have done in my earlier life, so I guess that's not what you're asking.

One of my "what-ifs" was "what if I had joined the military like I wanted?"

Answer: I would have been shot in the face. I'm the kind of guy they send out as cannon fodder.

That's pretty much it, for me.

Holy crap. I remember one thing.

I was driving with my boss on an early delivery (I've told this story like 10 times here already...) and all the radio stations were still playing talk shows instead of music. My boss turns to a "top albums" list or whatever and they mention Slayer. If he hadn't stopped playing with the radio on that station or if we hadn't of done that delivery... I wouldn't be playing any music or even listening to it. I wouldn't have found real metal, I wouldn't have started listening to it, and eventually picked up a guitar and then bass. Scary thought.

Okay...Please bear in mind I have OCD---Obsessive Compulsive Disorder...

What if: I eat something that makes me sick and I die
A: Then I die...

What if: I get my girlfriend pregnant and have no shot at life
A: Should've bought better rubbers

What if: I'm playing music for nothing
A: Who cares, it's a hell of a good time.

What if:I dont go to college, and mess up my life with a crappy job, making no money.
A: I should've pushed myself harder.

No, not really. I tend to take big decisions like those very seriously, and make a calculated choice that I am 100% comfortable with. After 35 years, none of those choices have backfired.

No, that's not the point.

You have to look at something you did in life, and say "what if I had done something else" in the past. Like, what if Bruce Wayne's parents were never shot?

Actually, the correct Q&A would be..

What if: I have premarital sex with my girlfriend, with whom i am not ready or finantially stable enough to help raise a kid.
A: I could get her pregnant, and then possibly have no shot at life.

I have a really big "what if" in my life: "What if my dad were still alive?" He died 22 years ago and he was an extremely strict person who wanted his kids to follow a "decent" profession, and I know that music didn't fit into his standards. One thing's for sure: I don't know if for better or worse, but my life's story would be completely different if he was still alive.

My biggest "what if" is if I went to Musicians Institute.

Me and the rest of the band were all enrolled and was going to pack up and move to California, but one by one we all chickened out to put it plain and simple.

Looking back, on one hand I'm glad we didn't go because we were naive and ill prepared. Plus our vocalist went for a tour of the school and dubbed the surrounding area "not the best place to live" This was at a time when LA was notorious for crime.

But still "what if" it all worked out. would I've become a session bassist, supporting myself with something I love to do. Even if it didn't work out where would I be today. Better or worse off? I guess I'll never know. :crying:

:D

what if.

well there was this hot ass girl i went to high school with. when i slept with her, i decided to wear a rubber.

then later i found out her family was filthy stinking rich. i wish i had knocker her up! I would be set for life. Mooching off the rich inlaws would have been great compared to working. I'm such a fool.
