What is a Flea Bass?

If it comes down to a "Play whatcha brung" contest, this guy and his Flea bass might beat a few of us...
At least he's using a b&w one instead of one of those awful color combos that most of them came in.

Still ugly as sin..... but wow it sounds pretty decent for a budget bass. I'd play one for the right price lol. Wasn't expecting that sound at all. It mimicked the rage musicman tone pretty damn good as well.

Yeah it's pretty ugly, the b&w combination is nowhere near as bad the pink & green or blue and orange.

The kid has a whole channel full of videos of him and that bass doing Rage and RHCP stuff with it, and damn good at it. Would like to see him play with a bass deserving of his skill.

These are so outrageously fugly that they almost hold an ironic charm...

In terms of tone- goes to show just how good the ‘bucker in the sweet spot design really is!

The headstock looks decent at least, i would use the neck of the white model for a frankenfender

from here on out there will be no more ugly bass threads or posts tolerated in the bass forums, unless you are posting about your own instrument.

too many folks participate here with too diverse a set of instruments for these kinds of threads to end up doing anything but pissing people off.

interesting thing - the folks with experience, who gig and who are in general serious about bass usually don't waste their talkbass time posting about basses they don't own, talking about how they find someone else's instrument to be ugly . something to emulate, folks.

so if you want to talk about an ugly bass, make sure it's one of your own, or it will be deleted.


EDIT(jt) : the bongo addendum this goes for posts too. if you wanna compare a bass to a commode, that bass better have a handle or else you better own one.

if you have a negative opinion about an instrument, be sure to tie it to something beyond the subjective appearance - "the body was uncomfortable for me to play" or "the neck was too round for me, felt like a baseball bat".

otherwise, if you find something ugly, say so if such an opinion is asked for, otherwise keep it to yourself. this isn't rocket science, guys. respect other folks' instruments.
