Double Bass What is the best EUB for 3500 and under?

Hey everyone, I am a army band musician who has a budget of 3500$ for a quality electric upright bass that I can take down range into Afghanistan. Taking the enviroment into consideration, what do you think is the best product for this price range? Thanks for your help!

Did you read some of the threads here and are familiar with some of the products available on the market, or are you a complete newbie with EUBs?
No offense intended, just a question to see if you have some knowledge about EUBs.

If time is an issue than you will probably want one of the mass produced bases like the Eminence or NS Designs. If you can wait a couple of months the BSX Allegro is a good option. I just got mine a couple of weeks ago.

I have a similar bass, which I like more than any EUB I've played, though to be fair I haven't played many of the higher-end models on the market.

I'd recommend NS and the tripod stand...very robust. However, I'd also recommend getting multiple sets of the allen wrenches for field adjustment of the instrument...and the flight case.

I really like the Azola basses. You could pick up a used Bug Bass II for much much less than your budget...and they are built to last. You could also pick up an Azola Mini Baby Bass for about $3500.

I bought a used Clevinger Deluxe EUB which if it had been new would have been in your budget. At the first note, I melted at the tone and touch. My teacher is a classical bassist and he loves it! It came with a softside case as well as a harder flight case. I suspect it was used for travel as it still has some foreign tags on the case. There is not much said about the Clevinger on Talkbass. I'm surprised because the sound is awesome.
