What Is the Best Volume Pedal?

I have never regretted purchasing my Lehle Volume pedal. Its bulky, heavy, and expensive, but I use volume pedals all the time for my church group, and this does the job perfectly. Always recommended from me

I have the Morley 20/20 pedal that I use for guitar and really like it a lot for that.

Mission Engineering makes a really good one called the VM-PRO. Inder $200 new. I don't know if it's "the best." But I really like it.

Not sure about this question. Controlling volume is up to you, if that's what you want or need for your music, than sure. Volume pedals are great for swells when doing spacey or ambient type stuff, too.

But controlling gain, I don't understand. The volume pedal will control the output of your bass, not the gain control on the amp. Maybe tell us a bit more about what you want to achieve?

Thanks for the question. The Orange Crush 100 has a pretty good clean sound a great grungy sound with the gain turned up. When I (Fender foot) switch from clean to gain, the gain volume is at least twice as loud. I thought a volume pedal might be the solution for this.

I know this has been asked before, but I think it's been a while.
I've been playing for three years.
I play a Fender Jazz through an Orange Crush 100. I may get another amp soon. The only pedal I own now is a tuner.

1) What is the best volume pedal?
2) Is getting a pedal that controls gain and volume a good idea?

What do you mean by controlling gain? More importantly, if you have no pedals, why would you want to start with a volume pedal? Unless you play something that specifically requires it, I can't think of a less important pedal to have than volume. I've been playing for almost 50 years and have never felt the need for one. I have a few pedals that can be controlled by an expression pedal and have thought about getting one of those but I've never seen a need for pedal volume control. If you also play guitar, that's another story. If you don't know what specific effects you like, start with a Zoom multi-effects unit to get an idea of what you like. If you're less than thrilled with the DI or EQ section of your amp, a good pedal to start with is a good preamp/DI. Maybe one that adds a nice overdrive. In terms of dirt pedals, overdrive is the effect I use most often. I usually don't care for distortion pedals but there are a few fuzzes I like. In terms of modulation pedals, many like chorus. I prefer a good phaser. I occasionally use an octave pedal. A good compressor can improve things but it doesn't sound like you're at that point yet.
