What Is The Craziest Thing You've Ever Experienced?

I am an electrician. In May of '06, I had some work to do at a regular customer's house. We did a lot of stuff at his house, and we'd work on the houses he flipped (pre housing bubble). He has a house on a small finger of an inlet with about 250' of bulkhead. He's got multiple boats and various watercraft. All of his a/c and pool equipment, in addition to his dock electrical panel, are located on one particular side of his house. He had a brick wall built to hide these items, but for some reason, the masons stopped the wall 3' short of including the dock subpanel. I had to move it. No problem. Believe it or not, it took all day. It was almost 100 degrees, which made it pretty miserable. Hooked everything back up and went down to the docks to test. I'm walking along the dock, which stretches the length of the bulkhead, and I see something in the water near the boatlift. I'm watching as I'm walking, and it kind of looks like a giant sock puppet. My eyes are fixed on this object. When I get to about 20' away, I realized it was a dead man. Apparently, he floated in with the tide and his foot got hooked on the lift. I stopped and looked around, almost expecting someone to jump out of a bush with a camera saying "We got you!" He was fizzing. His flesh was stringing away from his body, and sea life was eating him. Naturally, I call 911. I told her I found a floater. She didn't believe he was dead. I told her he was. She's getting short with me, and I'm barely keeping it together. She responded, "How do you know? Are you a doctor? Have you been trained in emergency healthcare?" "No. He's dead. He's floating face down in the water, and animals are eating him. He's dead!" The operator wants to know my location. I told her I didn't exactly know. It was someplace I was familiar with but didn't know the address. Eventually, the police showed up. I ended up having 5 officers/detectives ask me the exact same questions. Fortunately, a neighbor had a boat ramp in his backyard and that was how they pulled him out, surrounded by media. All of the reporters wanted to speak with me, but I wanted no part of it. The police let me slide out, avoiding them all. Watching the news, they said he was found fully clothed by an unidentified electrician. He was wearing a plain white t-shirt turned inside out, a pair of pajama pants, and socks. I'd hardly call that fully clothed. It looked a boat or two ran over him. He also appeared to have two puncture wounds that looked like slits in the back of his head, left side, right about where the skull and neck meet. I instantly thought "meat fork". Never found out who it was or how he died. Part of me wants to know, another part doesn't. What a tough day.

About 10 years ago, I was driving my dad's old Cherokee back from wherever. I'm on a two lane highway and it's very sunny and beautiful outside. I'm cruising along in the right lane and there's a car in the left lane, slowling overtaking me. From the corner of my eye, I catch something rapidly approaching in the right side view mirror. A second later, I see a motorcycle overtake me from the right ! The guy is doing about 180 km/h easily.

He pulls back into the left lane and starts speeding off even faster, preparing to overtake another vehicule (a big semi) on the right. He's now about 400 feet away from me. He pulls to the right of the semi, but he must've hit a patch of sand or something and he starts wobbling until the bike catapults him under the trucks wheel. I see the body trash beneath the wheels and the guy is very obviously dead when he finally stops rolling on the asphalt.

I stopped, along with the truck driver and a few other others who saw the accident and somebody called the cops with a cellphone (this was about 2002-2003 so cellphones weren't as prevalent). The ruck driver was in shock and couldn't stop crying. I filed a police report but I never heard from the police after that.

I've got a few.

1. Best friend drowned

2. Other best friend OD'd on heroin.

3. Another good friend murdered...shot five times in the head over a girl...all deaths within an 18 month span.

4.Hurricane Irene

5.Watching someone have their ear removed with a switchblade by a guy who called himself el Blanco Diablo at one of my first gigs ever. I helped search for the ear. It was later found behind the bar. A few years later I was at a pig roast telling this story when the guy next to me shot me the dirtiest look I've ever gotten...he was missing an ear.

6. Many, many things on the NYC subway system...particularly the 6 train.

7.The birth of my daughter.

When I was younger I used to drive around with my windows down all the time. One night about a block and a half away from my house a friend (who lived nowhere near there) was carjacked and killed. I didn't drive around in that neighborhood at night with the windows down after that.

Also a long time ago I rode in a small airplane island hopper in the Virgin Islands. After takeoff the copilot got up and took a towel off of a tray of pina coloadas and passed them around, then set the tray down between himself and the pilot and the 2 of them finished them off by the time we landed (about a 45 min flight).

Driving in some mountains I'd noted the pavement was white and a little slippery when wet (calcite?) so I wasn't driving particularly fast. A car came up from behind and honked until I found a place to pull over and let him by. Less than 5 mins later I caught up to him; he'd gone off the road. Fortunately for him he went off on the upside, unfortunately for him there was a deep hole there and his car was nose in with about the back quarter sticking up and he was climbing out. I kept driving. Bad karma :(

I played a go go bar with a crappy cover band outside of a naval base. Years later and thousands of miles away in a different country I was in a bar bathroom relieving myself in a trough when the guy standing next to me said he recognized me from that gig and named the bar. No I didn't shake his hand :P

Anchored off of somewhere or another I decided to take a morning swim and hesitated before jumping to wonder if the water was cold, and a large shark, longer than I was tall, swam out from under the boat. Back to bed!

Do you mean crazy as in "weird & goofy", or as in "gross & unpleasant"? Anyway...
Weird
- Painting trees white (crazy base commander)
- Painting grass green (different crazy base commander)
-driving around base housing for a month, measuring peoples grass, and writing citations if it was too long (or too short!)
- having to deal with a 2-star general who liked to hide in my shop (Drafting/surveying), and finding things for him to run through the blueprint machine; he found it absolutely fascinating. Got pretty good at it, too.:rollno:
- Surveying off the end of the runway one morning, and watching a B-52 crammed full of nuclear weapons lose 4 engines on takeoff, rocket off the runway trailing all kinds of wreakage, getting closer..and closer.. and being too terrified to move:eek:
Gross
-the results of every helicopter ride I ever had
-every aircraft crash survey I ever had to do (and I did a lot of them in 24 years in the Air Force)
-standing in front of Base Ops the morning of Armed Forces Day open house, and watching an OV-10 auger straight down into the grass at about 250 mph, with the passenger's family standing next to me.
-the 4 guys I had to shoot one night, in a country we really weren't supposed to be in. Left in a real hurry afterward, too.

Two summers ago I was quite sleep-deprived and had some weird hallucinations. Nothing major, just stuff like the sky twisting, straight lines curving and seeing something that looked like grey snow in July for instants.

I had a hallucination event last year, and got hauled off from work in an ambulance. The doctors called it an Ocular Migrane with Scintillating scotoma. I thought I was having a stroke, and after a few minutes my vision became completely useless. It ends up it was much like the auras that Migrane headache sufferers have just before the pain hits. Except I never got the headache, I had four different manifestations of the phenomena at the same time, and I went effectively blind for 20 minutes.

Today, I was passing a semi truck, and saw him put on his blinker to come into the lane I was in. I sped up to get out of the way, and apparently, he hadn't checked his blind spot, and began to come into the left lane. I laid on the horn and with nowhere left to go, slammed on the brakes. Wheels locked up, smoke everywhere, almost ran off into the median.
Scariest event of my life.

OK, I wanna change mine. One morning after a good night of drinking and suspiciously little urinating, I woke up and to the longest wiz ever. Like, Austin Powers magnitude whizzing. The kind where you start to get bored and start to push it out as fast as possible to get it over with, then tire yourself out and return to normal urination velocity, to then regain stamina and push again, only to tire yourself out again. The kind where you actually manage to clean those super stuck on pieces of crud from the bowl that would be a challenge to remove with even the stiffest bristled toilet brush. The kind that goes into "things I accomplished today" list that one must accumulate before becoming eligible for a guilt free nap. The kind of piss that seriously makes you wonder if the lining of ones urethra is truly up to such a task, or if it should be split into 2 or more sessions. The kind that.... well, compels one to make a post about it on a forum of strangers. THAT kind of glorious leak.
