To each their own on the aesthetics of a EUB. Nothing is as beautiful as a real DB so EUBs have always been a tool of utility for me. The lighter, more compact, durable and quicker the setup the better, given that the tone and feel is there.

Alembic Classico has a great acoustic DB sound. I've used mine on about 1/2 dozen gigs so far and i've been told that it sounds authentic and woody.

I'm back!!!
I've played all (or most) of the Eub's. Had a few including the Alter Ego. If you're looking to emulate the acoustic sound (and more importantly the function), the Volante is WAYY better. I toured with one for 7 years and never looked back. (at the acoustic).It's the only one with a bass bar and an adjustable sound post. Really emulates the sound and feel of an acoustic. It's the only one I've ever played that I could walk on. Adjustable string length, action is adjustable on the fly (between songs). Fits in a golf club case and bows really well. Don't know if they're made any more. Haven't used mine for a few years (not touring any more) Might sell it.
