What is the MOST useful effect?

1). Chorus... Because I love the sound when playing fretless.
2). Fuzz... A 'must' on a couple of numbers we play.
3). Octaver... I have really been getting into my Digitec BSW (Used sparingly!).

You ever try Overdrive(or Distortion) And Chorus TOGETHER? It sounds really cool!!
Not really an effect par say, but the most useful pedal on my board has to be my volume pedal. My favorite effect is distortion.

I voted for "distortion/fuzz" only because I have an overdrive channel on my amp. If I had a single-channel amp, I'd be voting for overdrive!
But I guess if you're looking at effects as a whole, without limitations to rack effects or pedals, then it'd still be overdrive.
I guess I'd have to say overdrive because it can be as subtle as compression or as obvious as fuzz. I've been using compression for clean and either od, dist, or fuzz mostly with the occasional wah/filter.

I'm actually thinking about getting rid of my OD/distortion pedal and keeping it just with a compressor. So compressor!!
