    Looks like a Fender JP90

    Not a whole lot

  3. It is a JP-90.
I paid $200 for one years ago.

They are U.S. made, but only made for about 2 or 3 years.
The pickguard on those is weak & you have to be careful with the output jack or use a right-angle plug.

Having a case is a bonus, mine didn't come with a case.

  7. Doesn't it have JP-90 printed right on the headstock?

Oh, crap! To be fair, I was a passenger, just didn’t have the bass in front of me. Total dufus move on the sub-forum. Do I get to choose who gets my points? Or are they just gone forever?

U.S. Made. So what's wrong with them that they are so cheap?

    There’s a pic in the OP ;)

  14. There's nothing wrong with them, other than they're not a Precision or a Jazz, and that weak point on the p/g where the output jack is mounted.
It's just another case of Fender trying something new & apparently everyone hated it.

I wish they still made the Blacktop series.

They were conceived as a "budget" bass. It's equipped with cheap hardware and electronics. Also, the style varies just enough from traditional Fender design to have been shunned by the Fender loyal followers. The retail price in 1999 (edit: oops, should have said 1990) was $499 so the street price was likely just a little over $400 which translates to about $750 in today's dollars. So, this was in like an American Special range.
