I've been trying so hard to find the music that has this particular sort of bass line, rhythmically speaking. I've heard it a few times throughout my life, but never knew what it's called, or what song it's in, or what keywords to use to find it otherwise! Heard it in a song played by Las Guaracheras, the Colombian band. And more recently, I was at a local Mexican-Peruvian restaurant and heard it playing on their radio. Asked the server, and he called it "Peruvian cumbia", and I don't doubt him, but I can't find it when I search those words on YouTube or Google. I live in the US midwest, and my heritage, as far as I know, hails from Belgium and I think Scandinavia, so this isn't my culture per se. But I have played a good variety of salsa in the past 10 years or so, and I got the itch to learn what I can. Bassists with experience with cumbia or other Latino music, please educate me! I drew this up from memory, take a look/listen and does this kind of bass line ring a bell?
