Yep a modern player series. I had one for a short time; it's a great bass for the money. Here's a recording I made of mine some years ago through my practice amp before I accidentally destroyed it in a botched defret job

How did you botch a refret job that badly? I understand you might have made a mess, but I can't imagine what you'd do that would completely destroy the whole bass.
Well, Warwick have MIC models that are a thousand euros, nothing new here. Your iphone's made in China and it stills costs half a kidney.
Long story. But the short story is the defret itself came out ok, but I made some bad decisions after that that ruined it. I lost the bass in another incident, but it was unplayable after I screwed it up anyway .
I should have left the frets on it. It's a great bass with a nice, thick snarl to it. Shame they don't make it anymore...

It's a Fender bass; there are replacement parts available. Some of them are even better then what originally came on the bass.
Although if we're playing country of origin Top Trumps I think I'd choose an Indonesian Squier over a Chinese Fender any day of the week.
True and good point. But the bass itself was only about $200 or somethign like that. A new neck would have been probably half that at the time, so I just never got round to it. It got destroyed with all my other basses about 2 years ago, though, so now it's a moot point I guess...

Oooh I dunno about that. My Chinese classic vibe 70s P is better than my Indonesian vintage modified 70s Jazz in every way - and I love the jazz. The P is a spectacular instrument for the price and a great instrument full stop.
My China made Squier CV50s Precision is sweet. If the price is reasonable, why not. My upright is also from China, as well as a couple of my good friends
My 2021 MiA came from Corona with the nut slotted such that 3 strings were locked to the 1st fret and one fret wasn’t seated, you could see the tang. And the bridge ground wire wasn’t pulled through the hole so it didn’t touch the bridge.
So you don’t scare me if you say there’s a Fender made where workers get canned for simple mistakes.
And FWIW my 2020 MiM Tele neck is way nicer than my 2020 MiA Tele neck, the frets were perfect out of the box. And the finish is flawless.

Country of manufacture doesn’t matter anymore. There are $2200 Dingwalls made in China.

I worked for a dealer when this came out. After dealing with all of the MPs we sold coming back rather quickly for one thing or another, I’d agree. They did all at least have cool looking paint.
My made in China fender starcaster is a very well made bass. Love it.
