This is a MIC Modern Player Marauder that I bought around 2013 or 14, and it's my favorite guitar.

While I have my opinions on trade policy blah blah blah, in this particular instance it's a perfectly functional instrument that's made well and has a nice finish. No regrets.

Hopefully not. I agree that they should have a more affordable offering with less customization and try to keep the price down around what you'd pay on a German Warwick master built or anything else around 3-5k but definitely not a cheapo china built line.

I don’t see why they’d want to TBH. They already have their loyal customer base. And I’m assuming sales are steady, and their profit margin is sufficient, by virtue of the fact they’re still in business. So I think they'd be foolish to disrupt that or risk diluting their brand’s image and mystique by introducing a lower priced less customizable product line. I suspect it would only alienate their existing customer base and not get them all that many new ones.

You never want all the business you can possibly get. Just the most profitable business. Small, fat, and happy is a really good place to be in when you’re in business.

I'm thinking selfishly why I'd want to. I'm driving a truck that doesn't cost as much as those basses. I can't afford 10k so in the land of hopes and dreams it would be nice to have one that's in a better price range. But you're right though. Sometimes when you start mass producing something you're taking away from something special. People like Wal basses because it's not just another cut an paste fender or Ibanez and it's something very unique and well crafted.
