Ummm, so-called stealth string retainer, that Fender is so fond of on new (2010) American Deluxe models?

wth....mean while,fenders comming up with stupid crap like this, fender japan's getting p basses with model 1 pickups at the neck,and jazzes with MM buckers in the middle.

I always did on my MIM Jazz. The angle between the nut and the tuner, even if wound properly, was just a little shallow.

Those basses were modded by the store that's selling them, not Fender Japan
Wow, I just searched up the stealth string retainer, and that has got to be the dumbest thing I've ever seen. I don't understand, why doesn't Fender just use a three-string retainer?
I love my Hipshot three-string retainer. It keeps all of my strings at the same break angle over the nut, so the A doesn't stick up like it does on traditional P/J basses. Fender should just do a string retainer like the Hipshot.

Not to get off topic but if you have a look at some of the other models there seems to be a 5 string "Aerodyne" model, but with the body being made out of Alder. How would this not be a cool bass?

Very common on Fender-style basses for the A to be the one with the least amount of break, sometimes to the detriment of the instrument (nut buzz). There are many ways to counter this issue (the simplest of which is extra winds on the A tuning post), and I applaud Fender's latest attempt (assuming it works).

On another note, it just seems like another gimmick for the Fender Deluxe, because the Standard's don't come with it.
