1) Try opening the site in an incognito window. If you're using Chrome just hit ctrl+shift+N to open one.
2) Is it possible you or someone in your house has installed a VPN? It may be a standalone program or a plug-in for your browser.

You have slipped into the Twilight Zone, there's no more countries anywhere
Sometimes it can be an issue with your ISP (Internet Service Provider). If they have to fail over to a backup link which happens to be in a different country (like Japan), you'll experience issues like this.
If it's still happening, go to Invalid Link Removed and see if your internet traffic is being routed from some other location.

In my case I can see the US site, sure, but I had to make a search on their website to find the Customer Service contact form ... bah ... the website is not the best they could do in my opinion anyway ...

The Fender website has always been almost unbelievably poor for such a big corporation. The Squier section is the worst. Never up to date. Not to mention the Squier website where clicking on practically anything will send you to the Fender website with it's useless Squier section, lol.
If you're looking to browse through Fender's current offerings it's much easier to go to a major online dealer and do it there. They are always a lot more up to date than Fender, are easier to navigate and have filtering options that aren't completely brain dead.
Ever tried doing something as simple as searching for P-bass pickups on the Fender website? You would think it was as easy as navigating to the bass pickup section and click "precision bass". Nope, that filters out 2 of the 5 available P-bass pickups. The only way to see the full selection of P-bass pickups is to browse through ALL bass pickups. And if you make the mistake of actually clicking on any pickup below the first page you have to re-load every page downwards to get back to where you were.
That's just ONE example. The entire website is full of bugs, poorly updated and generally rubbish.

I got the Build Your Own/,Mod shop email, tried to switch it 5 string, but it wouldn't do it. Probably a good thing for my wallet, else I would be putting a new P together.

Site was in English.
Scrolled to bottom of page, clicked the region selector, selected Japan, reloaded page.
Site was in Japanese.

Whoever's maintaining Fender's website has a bug to fix.
OP: What you have to do is remove the site data. When I deleted the cookies and cached data for fender.com, the site reset to US English for me.
The exact process depends on the web browser you're using so I can't provide detailed instructions, but generally speaking you want to remove fender.com cache, cookies and local data; in many browsers you can do this through a "Manage website data" type option in the browser's settings or control panel.
Thank you for your advise, I did exactly that deleted cookies & cache to see if it resets but with no luck at all.
