what is your set set up and why?

I was wondering what type of cab configurations you all are running. I run an 8 x 10 cab but im thinking of possibly finding a diffrent set up. also I am at work and its slow. But would would be a good cab set up for blend of Metal type of lowend with slapping and jazz style riffs. I was thinking maybe 4 x 10 with 2 x 12

I use 15's for my gigging needs. Why? Because I'm an old school rocker who loves the sound of 15's with their depth and warmth while being capable of a full range tone wise. I also like what 12's can do as well as 10's when either size is utilized in good cab designs. It's gonna' have to be up to you to come up with your tone brew in regards to finding that nearly magical happy place of getting your own unique tone mojo on.

Use to play an SVT with a 6x10 cab.
Have no need for that set up now, playing smaller sized gigs.

Now I use a either?

Ampeg B50R- for practice.
Ampeg B100R-for small gigs.

The B50R has a 12' speaker.
The B100R has a 15" speaker.

And, I'm having a custom made 100 watt. tube head with matching cab.
1x15. (Collins Amps)

I like 10's but in 6x10 or 8x10 cabs.

15's are my favorite speaker. 1x15 or 2x15 cabs.

I use a 4x10 and a 1-15. To me the cabs just blend together well. Nice punch and clarity with the 4x10 and a warm old school thump, with the 1-15. I'm a huge fan of old school tone, but with the 4x10 I can get a more modern tone if I need.

Good Luck, R.

I currently run a Schroeder 6x10.

My previous setup was a 4x10 / 1x18 stack, and while I liked the sound, the Schroeder does all that (well, maybe not quite as full in the lower end) and then some all on its own. And it weighs a little less than my old Ashdown 4x10 cab. :bassist:

i use a 212, or 112 or both.
gets a great sound, nice and punchy but still can pump out the booty bass if needs be. plus its kind of a rare setup and i can't help but try and be different. i definitely have come to prefer the sound of 12's.

A bassist after my own heart!

My current rig is an Acoustic B200H head and a custom made 1X12" cab, covers the low end very well and has a distinct BARK and growl as well. Love it!

I love tens. Tens, tens, tens. They can get plenty low and are always plenty punchy. I have a Goliath III powered yb an Eden WT550, but as soon as the finances are there, I plan to move to a Schroeder 410L.

I play in a cover band playing 80's, 90's and newer material. This rig covers it all. Nice low end, cutting top end and the right amount of mids to cut through all the drums and guitars. Weighing in around 60 lbs or so! Load in/load out no problem!

Epifani: UL-410 Series 2 (4ohm)

I run a Laney head, cos it has a nice tight colourful solid state sound of it's own, and I like aggressive playing to come from my technique more then my amp, through a Berg NV215, cos it's big and full sounding yet defined. Wanna get a 2x10 with another 5-6 inch mid for a tad more attack, but other then that I'm happy.

Greetings from the North,

Since back in ancient times I've had a preference for 12 and 15 inch speakers. I know that a lot of players like their ten's but they just don't do it for my sound. Guess I could say I like a bit more meaty bounce and a little less punch. Right now I'm sticking with my DrBass 2260 and new Traynor TC115 for now cause they keep me happy with my tone and bounce the bootey.

Carvin DCM1000 power &a LowEnd True Voice pre. I currently use a Schroeder 310212R and also have an SWR 12-stack. Why? I thought I wanted them. However, as it turns out, I'm not really pleased with either cab at this time, b/c neither really delivers what I want and they're both a bit heavy. I need something else. Am seriously thinking on a BFM O15.
