what is your set set up and why?

I use an Eden D210XLT and a D115XL – 2 x 10”s, 1 x 15”, and a tweeter. Best of all worlds. I drive it all with a Trace Elliot AH250. I use it because I dig the tone. I’ve played both cabs alone, and either would work (I much prefer the 210 alone when I can only use one) but the two together gives me the best tone - the 15 adds a lot of old school depth and the 210 gives me the power to cut through and sound defined… I dunno… I just dig it.

An Eden 8 X 10 LXT and a pair of old SVT 115's with altec 816 drivers.
I drive the eden with an old Simms Watts AP 200 Super and the Ampegs with A Roost SR 150.
Both the amps are modified to copy old Hiwatt designs, I use two amps to blend the 10's and 15" better. I use various pre amps depending on the project from sans amp to U5, mesa to ampeg to even that behringer cheep clone sans amp thing, its gritty and course but chuck it through all those tubes and transformers and the grit gets a real good texture.
10's and 15's seem to cover what I need, I use only minimal tweeter settings.
I have an active tri Amp JBL/ Acoustic 408 rig for ultra clean pre/power stuff and reamping stuff that has shape already.
:ninja:

Well if everyone else is naming off their stuff, why should I hold back?

OK, so if it's a big gig or an easy load-in and not too many dead lifts, I bring either my 77 B-15N or my 64 B-15N and mic it. If it's a tough load-in or there's no PA, I bring my Markbass Mini CMD121P combo and mic it or crank it really loud. I use X2 portable wirelesses, and an FMR Really Nice Compressor on most gigs, and an EBS Microbass II A/B/Y preamp if I need to switch between electric and upright.

Weighing in around 60 lbs or so! Load in/load out no problem!

My head weighs more than your whole rig! But its also on wheels, so moving isn't really an issue. That is until you hit a dip in the sidewalk and dump your cab....

I'm using a 70s V4 with a 70s ampeg 4x10 cab with new eminence drivers. I love the sound of 10s. I used to cart around my SVT-CL and 6x10, but that got to be too much. Although, the V4 in its road case weighs just about as much as the SVT-CL did.

What: RBI -> dtr-2 -> Rane me-14 -> BBE Sonic Maximizer -> QSC PLX 1202 -> Ampeg 810e

All into a Furman RP-8D

Why: The RBI is awesome for what i play. The dtr is self explanitory. The Rane lets me add in some low mids. The BBE tightens up the lowend. The PLX is light and has enough power. I got the Ampeg for 300 on cl, best deal for an 810 around.

Not for people who like colored tone, but its a mighty good sounding colored tone to me.

Not quite. I got an entire 1969 SVT rig for $650. Of course, that was back in 87 or so, and I'm spending over $1000 in restoring it, so I guess you do win after all ;)

I already reconed the speakers. Holy cow, what a difference! May not be able to handle 1500 watts, but blows away new SVT cabs in the tone dept. My amp tech swears he'll have the head done for me soon. He's a great amp tech, did wonders for my Super Reverb, but he just won't work on the SVT head for some strange reason.

This is with my old bass, but you get the picture:

Here's a close up:

I used to use an amp and speakers, but now I'm in a band that
uses no amps on stage. Everything goes through the monitors,
and we run sound ourselves from stage. I get a great sound
out front, and my monitor works just fine for me. We rarely play
anywhere that makes us use their PA. When they do, I just make
sure I get a good monitor mix.

Set up and tear down is about as minimal as it can get, and
the stage has a nice clean look. I really enjoy this set up.
I've been trying to scale down for years, but until I got into
this group I still had to use at least one cab. Now the rack full
of "goodies" is gone as well as the multiple cabs. Obviously
everyone's situation is different, but I'm really happy with how
things are going with this set up.
