Longtime lurker first time poster, and I need some help IDing this ampeg amp. OK so the story goes; I'm at a recent yard sale where I asked the guy if he had any musical equipment and he rolls out this SKB 5 rack rolling case with a SansAmp RBI bass pre amp, Furman power supply, Korg tuner, and he says $400 bucks for it all - the kicker is that he said he'd throw in an unknown kind*(he had stickers over the model name) of Ampeg power amp with a 9 band eg * see pic (that "needs servicing" and "if you can get it to work would be a great deal" - his words)

My questions to some of you better versed tech guys is:

What kind of Ampeg is it? What would you recommend as the most cost effective/reliable avenues for having it repaired? Ampeg?

Is this is a good buy for $400 considering I'll have to spend $xxx to repair the ampeg?

I guess I'm just wondering if this is a serious deal and just grab it and sort it out, or if my money would be better spent elsewhere on another product....

Any ideas? Suggestions? anyone want to throw me a bone? * thats the ampeg on the bottom

The IIIPro and the 3Pro are the same amp, just renamed. The SVT III is different and older. The amp in the picture is a mid 90's SVT III Pro. It looks like my old one, which was a POS.

Yeah, I had one from that era and it wound up dying on me. Could have been user error. That being said, I loved it's tone.

The issue may have been that I didn't realize the difference between speaker cables and instrument cables :hmm:.
