At the moment I have 2 four-string fretted (Ibanez SR800 and MIM Fender Jazz) and one six-string fretted (Brice HXB-406). All strung with SS roundwounds. Have a fretted violin bass copy that will have flats on its way. My next one will be a fretless 4 or 6 string.

12 years playing 1970/71 Fender P. put it in the cupboard while I ran my business and had a family brought it out 6 years ago when I retired, played it for 4 years, swore I would never play anything else until I walked into The Bassplayer, Annandale Sydney and saw a 5 string toilet seat hanging up in the rack, fell in love with it's beautiful shape, then it's incredible sound and although I love my P I have'nt played the poor old bugger on stage since. But I will. Just have to find a song that I don't use the B on. I love the B. And I really love my Dunny Lid.

4 string fretted - Fender Precision
5 string fretted - Fender Jazz
6 string fretted - Ibanez SR506

4 string upright bass - Shen SB-90
5 string electric upright bass - NS Design NXT

oh, no, that's cool - anything electric can be counted in that spot. i'm just saying, for you uppity folks for whom bass guitar is not good enough ( ;) :D ) we need to get a poll going wherein you can share the specifics of your particular poisons.

i'm sorta at a loss as to what options would go into another poll. and what would i call it? "what kind of non-guitar electric bass instruments do you play?"

theres always a #10 wash tub a mop handle and a cord:bassist: oh I play 1, 5 string Ibanez, but the band has 3 four string "basses"
