What kind of straplocks do you use?

Dunlop for life.

I used to be half and half maybe between Schaller and Dunlop. A Schaller set failed and I swapped the rest out for Dunlop and haven't looked back. Haven't tried the newer Schallers, but have no reason to. The Fender rubber washers look kind of neat but were too much of a pain putting on and off. Strap never stays on in the gig bag and pushing a little button is way easier than stretching those things over the strap pin.

How did they fail? This is actually my first set ever of a strap lock system. I've never really needed them, and probably don't actually need them now. I thought they were an interesting design and went with my new D'addario strap.

here you go

also please note that Schallers will be a direct replacement if you used the screw that came with the Universal locks, they use just the same diameter screw as D'Addarios. I believe, that's the M size in the current line up.

Thanks for the info. I used these screws that were already on my bass so that I didn't change the hole diameter if I wanted to back to stock. I've played for over 20 years and have never really felt I needed strap locks. I'll try these out for a while if I don't like them I'll just go back to stock. Thanks again.

I have Dunlop Straplocks on one of my basses just because ~30-something years ago I was in a band where I actually had my own roadie (!) and he begged me to install a quick-release lock so he could more quickly pack my bass.

Every other bass I own has genuine Grolsch beer bottle washers.

I resisted strap locks for years, the rubber ring trick always worked fine for me. Honestly, unless you're really swinging your instrument around, just getting larger strap buttons is enough. But when I bought my Rickenbacker I found out that they come with Schaller buttons. I already had another set of Schaller buttons that came on a different (used) bass, so I went ahead and bought a full set and put the locks on my favorite leather strap. Now I've got three basses that I can use the strap on, and two others that I have to use my other strap for. Someday I'll get a few more sets of buttons, but it's not a high priority for me...
