What kind of strings do you use?

Ibanez Nickel standard gauge are not bad for the price

I like DR Fat Beams on my Stingray and Fender Jazz and Chromes on my p bass and Gibson EB-3

Definitely settled in on the GHS Pressurewound Mediums now. Tried a few others and for me the combination of great feel and excellent performance is perfect. On the P and the Ray35 they seem to retain the character giving nice deep solid lows, punch mids and resonant clean highs. Love it.

I've an old stoc of Bassics GHS Nickel, very long lasting and the decay is progressive and natural, sustain and tension not low for me for the price astonishing.

Harley benton 45-105 nickel, roundwound.
They are cheap so I can afford to change them often.

Only thing I don't like in these is the orange cloth in the ends. Sometimes I use a red or a black marker to make them look cooler

In my 35 inch ltd bass the cloth touches the nut if i don't peel it off. (I's easy to do with a sharp blade)

I've an old string gauge.35 of Trace Elliott Stainless Steel. For me one of the best strings but absolutely unconfortable, hard string tension. Lot of sustain and Harmonics slightly but hard more than for example Ernie Ball Nickel .45

Voted 'roundwounds' but i use those plus plain steel strings. All my bass guitars are either extended/full range or baritone/piccolo.

My acoustic and my Fretless both have D’Addario Tapes. My Schecter has Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats. The D’Addario Tapes are my favorite string, hands down.

I think it depends on what style of music you play. If you are a rocker you might go with a Nickel or Flat wound string. If you are a R n B, Jazz, or Gospel dude then Round wounds are a must. And remember you pay for what you get !! IMO DRs all day for me BUT I like D'addario also it just depends on what style of music I am gigging with and which bass I'm going to use, 4 5 or 6 string and the scale length of the bass also matters as well and hex core and round core to give the sound I need. If you are a serious bass player all these things matter, well for me it does LOL !!

At the moment, I have TI Jazz Flats on all three of my basses. Honey Burst P Special, Franken PJ, and Jazz basses. Using these strings on all three really gives a chance to hear the tonal characteristics of each different instrument. Fun.

Now i've Maruszczyck 105 nickel strings on my jazz style bass. Very interesting strings not too hard not too loose bright and full of harmonics. Not too rought it could define these slinky....

Medium 45-105 roto 66ld swing bass. Or Ken Smith stainless steel about the same gauge. Both sound so nice! I've used other brands but those 2 are the best I've had. Also the red silk on the rotos and dark purple on the Ken smith's are cool as hell and get compliments often.

Yes i like Roto '66 but .98 they sound well as new but decay faster, if you like the round like flat sound you can rest them on your bass for aethernity.

Going back to DR Sunbeams 45-105. I try others, they all seem good for awhile but I always come back to Sunbeams.
