What kind of strings do you use?

30-90 Funkmasters on the Kubicki Factor. Probably going to switch this DR 40-100
40-95 Slinkys on my jazz basses

If Dunlop made SBN's in 30-90, I'd darn sure give them a try!

i use DR lo-riders (stainless) on my SS2, and DR hi-beams on my fretless thumb 6.

these are the growliest strings i've ever heard, and that's what i like. i like the hibeams flexibility on the fretless and the loriders stiffness on the fretted for good dig-in ability.

Hi basically, I love/use a few styles of DR strings I use hi-beams & Pure blues, medium light gauge. I used to use black beauties, but didnt like how they aged. I started out playing nothing but Roto Sounds,then switched to GHS for price, I recently switched back to RotoSound for their Nexus Black coated strings, much much better! I m thinking of using their nylon tape wounds"true bass" when I need to change. I like the coated strings, but im ready to make the change to Flatwounds(Nylon tapewounds)I've heard good things.

Personally I prefer Swing Bass to others strings but D'Addario Prosteel for example last longer than these. But in tone Swing are IMHO unbeatable.
Nickel stings feel better less rough and with a warmer tone.

Strings that is, I love pure nickel round wounds, and nickel plated round wounds. Whats yours?

Have reverted to Labella Nylons on my Gibson's and 1 Jazz bass. All others use SIT nickle medium .050"-.105" Started out with Nylons and have gone back to them and tube Marshalls.

I played with a fair bit of brands, now pretty much on super slinky 45 - 100 from Ernie Ball, they used to get alot of flack but new formula is pretty great !

My new adventure = DR SS Lo-Riders 40-60-80-100-125 on my son's Ibanez SR-1205E.

I call it an "adventure" only because I'm usually a nickel guy for rounds/semi-rounds and this is the first time in 7 yrs I'm playing stainless steel rounds on any bass. And I'm very pleasantly surprised at how much I'm actually enjoying these LRs. Not overly zingy but clear, crisp and punchy, including the 125B.

Fender medium flats- 0.055-0.105 on fender jazz bass and Squier Jaguar p/j longscale, and Epiphone EB-3L

Rotosound black nylon tape flats on 68 Telecaster bass (with foam string mute under strings) and on Ibanez TMB100 with maple fretboard...

Flats and nylon tape just sounds “bassier” to me

My suggest is to spend less in changing instruments and a lot of more to change strings after a while (in my counts after 100 Hrs. of use all strings starting decays)

As of tonight, my P-bass is sporting the GHS Brite Flats L3075 (45-56-77-98) for a test run. I've tried them on my J-bass a couple of years ago, but this is the first time on my P. They replace the GHS Pressurewound ML7200 (44-58-80-102), which are exactly one year old.

GHS Pressurewound L7200 (40-54-76-96) and GHS Progressive 130B on my Yamaha.
GHS Pressurewound M7200 (44-64-84-106) on my J, tuned to DGCF.

The test run with the Brite Flats on my P lasted exactly 3 weeks. Not that I didn't like them necessarily, but I've got the urge to keep experimenting...

As of tonight, GHS Super Steels (40-58-80-102) replace the Brite Flats for another test run.

LaBella Flats on my Hofner HCT
D'Addario Chromes on my Brice Hofner copy
Dunlop Flats on my Hofner Ignition
I also find that different basses react better to different makes of strings(flats or nylons only for me), although I will likely go to Dunlop flats for my other Hofner soon.

D'Addario's Prosteel 95-40 are great on my Jazz but the Sol is too little sounding respect the others, seem a guitar....
