What Klon clone is on your board?

I also have the Klon KTR, moderately meh for bass, but kills on guitar. Haven’t used it much for bass though.

Seconded. Had the 4 knob for a while and it was awesome in a mix. I didn’t like the solo sound, but in a song context it made complete sense.

I avoid clones wherever possible but don't have an original Klon either.

An original Centaur is $3000 and the KTR is over $350, so I have no qualms rocking an affordable Klone.

That Rawkworks is definitely on my radar, but finding one might be the real issue. I do see a couple of "Night OD" pedals for sale, though. Not sure if that's the same thing...

I had heard the Soulfood was a loose clone of the Klon. It was ok. My guitarist had his guitar soulfood modded (can’t recall who did the work) and he really likes his. I replaced mine with a Grizzly Bass.

Ouuu, I had a feeling I might be hissing something when I pawsed too long on one here in the TB classifieds a few months ago. That graphic is right up my alley >^..^< Please meowssage me if you eventually decide to adopt yours out to a loving home :)

If I want something I'll save up on it.
I could have bought an original Klone some time ago . I tried it , decided it wasn't 'all that' for me and passed on it.
If that ever changes I will most likely find an original.
I think I am pretty much ok now , in terms of drive.

You would save up $3000 to buy the same pedal someone else makes for $150?? o_O

If I wanted it I would. I dislike clones.
I might buy one if it was ok'd by the person that came up with the original and they benefited in some way8 license etc. ) from the production of the clone.
And(not 'or'), of course if the clone was accurate.

Bill Finnegan hasn't made the original Centaur since '94, so paying $3k for a used original doesn't do much for him. As for the KTR, I only see them used so I'm assuming he isn't producing them anymore either and he has 0 items listed for sale on his Ebay page.

Basically, what I'm saying is that in this instance dropping thousands of dollars for an OD pedal is only benefiting the previous owner, not the creator.

I am using the EHX Bass Soul Food pedal that combines a Centaur-type drive circuit, with a mix / parallel dial so you can keep some of that previous low end. The Centaur circuit really robs the signal of low end so this feature is crucial. I use just a hint of the pedal in my chain, it subtly brings the strings alive and is more of an aid to playing than a sonic thing, although it does sound great too! I love this thing and the bass feels very dull and unresponsive without the pedal engaged, so I never turn it off! It is very responsive to playing dynamics so if I play gently it stays clean (ish) but if I dig-in, it growls... I'm an old-school player so my tone is always "chewy" and having a Centaur / Tube Screamer in my chain is crucial to avoid that horrible, clean, bland, piano-string noise that some people seem to like ;)

K types don't really do a lot with bass in my experience. I have tried with several. That said, I love Ks on my guitar and the one on my board right now is RYRA KLONE. At least I went with oxblood knobs! This thing sings on a Tele bridge and it's from Texas so all the better.
