Double Bass what pickup and amp would be good for this head?

i currently own a GK backline 300 and an SWR Goliath III. I'm considering selling the Goliath and purchasing a small 1x12 (bought the Goliath for rock and now have been focusing a lot more on jazz). Should i just sell the whole rig and buy an AI Contra? if i don't sell the whole rig, what kind of pickup do you guys recommend for it? I'll be playing jazz in small-medium sized venue for a while.

I would try starting off with a good pickup and running it through what you have to see how it sounds.

The Full Circle, Rev Solo, Bass Max, Realist and Underwood are all popular these days I think.

I'm really feeling the Full Circle. I'm probably going to pick one of those up.

What do you guys think about selling my SWR and GK amp and getting a used AI Contra Series I for 500?
i'm pretty short on money and trying to squeeze the most beautiful sound out of my dollar.

or...

I'm going to trade the SWR in for a Wizzy 10 cab and run the GK amp through it until I can afford the Micro 300.

Those all seem like good options.

But like I said

I would try starting off with a good pickup and running it through what you have to see how it sounds.

Lots of people use the FC and like it a whole lot.

As a general guideline you could try starting with the front of your signal chain and work your way to the back (fingers, strings, bass, bridge ... then your pickup, then the amp).

A lot may depend on the volume your jazz cats are playing. If you're used to rock and roll volume and are playing louder electric jazz, the 4x10 may still come in handy, though you'd probably be fine with a 12" or a 2x10.

Oh yeah, 4x10. Guess I overlooked that part. You can find smaller rigs for DB that will work and sound great.

yea i'm playing low to mid level volume jazz. Not really much electric rock fusion jazz stuff.

I'm using a FC through a GK backline 250 and SWR workingpro 10 cab. It's a pretty good set-up for most of the gigs I do. The FC delivers a good sound a higher volumes than the realist. IMHO the GKs seem to give a less "colored" sound than a lot of amps in the lower price range.
