What Pino Lines Would you Study/Transcribe?

Hi all,

Thought this might be a fun discussion. I want to take a deeper dive into studying Pino's work so I'm trying to come up with a list of maybe 20 or so tunes to dig into.

I'm looking at:

New York Minute, Don Henley
Every Time you go Away, Paul Young
Good Love is on the Way, John Mayer

Looking to expand the list. What else would you put on there? What are some classic Pino lines worth digging into?

Paul Young's version of "I'm Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down" has some amazing Pino playing on it.

'Music For Chameleons' amd 'We Take Mystery to Bed' from the album 'I, Assassin'.

'Call Me' with Go West is worth a look.

The Nick Heyward album 'North of a Miracle' - 'Whistle Down The Wind' was the significant single release.

'He Won't Go' from the Adele album '21'

"Bad Love" by Eric Clapton is an often-overlooked Pino line. The intro is truly special.

If you can play D’Angelo’s “How Does It Feel” as laid back (it’s SOOOO behind the beat!!!) and tasty as the record version then you are a bad bad man and can probably play anything.

Pino's solo in Murder is exquisite.

I know Pino's played on a boatload of other material in the past 40 years, but I'll always equate him with his SR fretless playing on Paul Young's albums from the 1980s. What a unique voice on the instrument. It's almost as if it was made for him.

A few of my favorites:

I just love that woody 'thwack' he gets thumping the fretless stingray on this tune.



His playing on this ballad is utterly sublime ( his playing on the entire 'Between Two Fires' album is just glorious )
