Hi everyone. I have a Carvin six string bass, jazz P'up in the neck position, MM style humbucker at the bridge ...and here's where it gets hairy for me...piezo's in each saddle. Now the problem is Carvin's active preamp. My tone pots (bass/mid/treb) are shot and need to be replaced, however they're soldered to pc boards and I don't want to replace that type myself. I would love to rip the whole thing out and replace it with say...an Aggie or Bart pre, but I want to keep the piezo system as well. My bass has the following control layout (which I'd prefer to keep): Master volume (push/pull active/passive), Neck/Bridge P'up blend, Magnetic P'up/Piezo blend, Bass/Mid/Treb controls, Series/Parallel switch for MM P'up. It's an 18 volt system also. Anyone have ideas or leads for a replacement preamp or layout? I could just get a Carvin replacement unit, but I know there are much better sounding pre's out there...I just can't find one that will fill the bill.

What preamp to replace Carvin

One idea would be to get Carvin's new preamp with mid-sweep.
How long have you had the bass? If it's under 5 years it is still under warranty.
