What PRO are you licensed with?

Honestly, whether you go ASCAP or BMI doesn't really seem to matter much. They both have strengths and weaknesses but I've yet to meet anyone who could articulate what they are.

ASCAP has always been fine to me. Their support is adequate but not amazing.

My friend is a BMI member. He has had good experiences with their member support folks.

The key is to stay on them, let them know when you've had placements and be proactive.

BMI

The online system is great. You can attach your bank routing as well as 1099 info automatically to your account number so all of your depsits and tax info is filled out for you quarterly! And BMI membership is free for writers/performers

The big issue now is due to world wide access to your music via the web The PRO orgs are different in different countries.

I want to invite you guys to sign up to New Music Zone.com ...its free and being set up by D-Town Records along with members of Universal Music Group!! This is one of the issues that the site is going to address. You have to sign up to nav the site but it is free. Add me as friend or ask your questions in the chat or blogs...you can always send direct questions. The big deal right now is that actual Lable heads are monitoring the site including CEOs and A&R VPs and you may be dealing with them directly!!! Good Luck OT
