+1, factor in each driver's excursion and you'll get the volume displacement of air, gotta look at all three dimensions when talking about pushing air.

I get that. But can you explain the apparent overlap between the excursion of the cone in terms of volume displacement and the amplitude of the sine wave for loudness. Or is volume (amount of air moved) the same as volume (sound pressure)?
 
It's not always about numbers of drivers. There is the acoustic impedance transformation to consider. In the 80s (?) I saw a Johnny Winter show - post Floyd Radford anyway. It was a large venue but Johnny's FOH bass driver system consisted of only two (L/R) full sized low-frequency horns, 20+ feet long, maybe 12-15 feet in diameter at the mouth and each with one driver. They pushed the air just fine.
 
A really good word to learn - NOMINAL.
In the real world, despite even the most detailed written specifications, almost everything - from the voltage/current coming from the wall socket to the variations in air pressure appearing in your ear canals can only be calculated NOMINALLY and often only very nominally. I'm just as nerdy about specs/dimensions/ratings blah, blah, blah as any other TB'er but, for me, factors like price, portability and stage/storage footprint are just as important as TS parameters. I changed cars eight months ago when the old one blew up and snapped up an elderly but immaculate Audi A4. A lovely car but guess what? My 1x15 and 2x10 are an inch too wide (nominally!) to squeeze into the boot/trunk and have to go on the back seat instead. Doh!

I'd like manufacturers to replace their usual speaker configuration and power centric naming/marketing approach with one that's focused on volume displacement. It's a simple number in cubic centimetres and is so much more useful than all the other stuff when you play bass.

Manufacturers should measure cabinets with a SPL meter across fequencies, from 1w up through burnout. Better them than the consumer.

You'd see that after so much power goes in the bass just doesn't get any louder.

At least they should do MAX SPL and power needed to reach MAX SPL.

And of course include polar charts for dispersion.
