Firstly, thanks to Spinal "Dave" Tapper for entrusting me with this with this potentially great project that pretty much sprung up super-quickly from this thread. As has happened before, it just goes to show you how willing TBers are to make a difference... and right now, not even to a "who" or a "where"... just a difference. I'm proud to be a member along with all of you.
I was just PMing ST in regards to donations to this project - I'd absolutely be willing to take any-and-all that people are willing to give... provided, of course, that everything follows TB Rules/FAQ/CUP: I'll most likely be contacting Paul or a Moderator regarding that aspect and what can and cannot be done here on the site. From what I'm thinking of right now the main "needs" are a new neck, tuners, bridge, and possibly pickups depending on the condition of the EMGs (I'll be able to test them by sticking them in one of my Spectors once the bass arrives). Incidentals such as knobs, output jack, wiring & electronics will be accounted for and an overall inventory will be made and posted publicly, along with progress photos.
As I stated in my "Pitch Post" ideally I'd like to donate this to a school or some type of program that involves the Disabled. Being a Person with one, I know full well that it's pure assumption that one cannot play and instrument as "complex" as the Bass (fine motor skills, co-ordination issues between Right & Left hands, etc...) I'm proof positive that's it certainly is possible given the amount of desire involved. I'll likely start preliminary research into that over the weekend.
And this point I'd simply like to thank Dave for the donation of the "Dumpster Bass" and for everyone in this thread who responded so quickly and positively regarding it. Whoever ends up receiving this at the end will be receiving a gift from The Members of The TalkBass.com Forums!
