What should I do with this dumpster bass?

Hey everyone. I have this bass. Its an Ibanez 300dx or something.

I'm not gonna fix it up - I have other Fenders that I play regularly. I have no room for this. Should I try selling the PU's? I dont know if they work or not...I was thinking of giving the rest away to someone...

It has no bridge, no knobs (I took the knobs off for one of my guitars), there's a huge gouge in the headstock like someone went at it with a dremel. Covered in stickers too...

I'd like to see it go to someone who wants to fix it up and play it or give it to charity, but obviously I can't donate it in this condition...

What would you do with it?

Yeah, I mean, I know these PU's cost around $130 new - but I really dont think I'd be able to test them - it just buzzes like crazy (probably because they're not grounded) when I plug it in...

If someone wants it shipped to them, I can take the neck off, throw it in a box and send it out. But I want to get it to someone who's serious about fixing it up

If FMB doesn't want it I'll actually second his idea and take it off your hands for shipping. I've somewhat regretted not donating any of my "lesser"/midrange basses to a charity program before I upgraded my collection, and I'll like the chance to try and find a new neck, rework the electronics, generally fix anything else that might need work and ultimately find a worthy home for it: as I'm a Person with a Disability, perhaps a school in that setting where I'm relatively sure Electric Basses aren't the first thing thought of as a "Playable Instrument" due to gross & fine motor issues.

OK guys - I'm glad to see a few responses. I definitely don't have the desire or time to fix this thing up (and I already have a nice Squier fretless I got for a steal). If you REALLY sincerely want this bass, PM me if you're serious.

I'll work out the shipping charges (I'm in Chicago, so if you're local, that's even better) after this busy weekend ends.

I think that'd be great - especially if these EMG's work - they're great sounding PU's from what I've heard and would be awesome for a beginner/intermediate student.

Also, the other rule is, you have to post a thread with pics on fixing this thing up - after-all, it was rescued from a dumpster.

It's just an overall versatile bass, has a narrow neck (which should make it comfortable to learn on), and there will be almost no money put into it, so it's really win-win and keeps music alive in schools.

I will gladly donate some parts to whomever gets it. Just let me know what you need and I'll see what I can do. I've got some new strings that can be thrown toward this thing right away

FMB - that's really cool man. It looks to me like Ian Perge is going to be the recipient of this dumpster bass - he seemed the most enthused about fixing it up and also said he'd post some pics of his progress along the way. I'll PM you his shipping info if you care to donate any parts for this bass, or you can contact him yourself after he receives it to see if he needs anything.

Lets make it a goal to get this into the hands of someone who's going to get a lot of USE out of it! I think this could be a really cool project when it's all said and done!
