What should I do?

Ok here's my situation: I'm in this crappy cover band (better than no band though) with a couple of friends. It formed when a bunch of friends and I were on a school trip in NYC, when one of my friends suggested that we form a band. So, when we came back to Toronto, we formed our band of 5 (originally 6 because I made my girlfriend band manager but fired her because guitarist doesn't want the band to lose focus). ANYWAYS, the fifth person in our band is suppose to be one of our "lead singers" -_-. But, she has no musical experience, and I'm pretty sure she is only in the band because her boyfriend is the drummer (where we do all of our practice sessions, at his house.) Which leads to a problem.... because if we fire her, mr. drummer will get angry and not let us play at his house anymore and our band will be ruined...... Any thoughts on what I could do? :help:

band of high school friends = awesome way to start out, get a taste of jamming/gigging and a great way to have fun

band of high school 'couples' = a festering pool of jealousy and pettiness - BUT when the drummer and the guitarist's girlfriend walk in on the guitarist banging the drummer's GF - you will all have a great story to share for the rest your lives... ;)

imho

Stay in the band while you look for another situation.

When you land another gig, tell the current band that you're uncomfortable with the girlfriend situation....

If it goes south....Just play in the new band...

If the current band surprises you and agrees with you and boots the girlfriend....

Then you have a decision to make....

Although, playing in two bands is always an option. I'm sure there are lots of members here that play in two or more bands. You don't even need to approach the current band with your problem with the girlfriend. Just play in two bands....The current band can be a 'Just for Fun' gig and the new band can be the outlet for your more serious aspirations.

But seriously, folks, since there aren't a lot of other opportunities for you out there, you could stay in this band with the full knowledge that there will eventually be an implosion surrounding the drummer/singer couple. Just take it for what it is at the moment, and roll with the punches when the whip comes down.

Words of wisdom.
