What should I do

I have been looking into the Rolls pm 351 personal monitor system, and my band has been talking about switching to wired in-ears for live shows. Ive spent the last 3 years building a Amp and cabinet that really like. Currently I used the Markbass Classic 300 all tube head and a Orange 410.

Lately Ive been noticing that my rig doesn't matter much in a live setting as I never get mic'd and I use whatever DI the venue has. As I don't have much cash currently to put into the rolls and a set of in- ears, I've been thinking If I should just sell my rig and put the money towards a good DI (like the REDDI) and a set of good in ears?

It would considerably cut down on my pack for gigs, I would only need my Ricky, DI & Rolls

if i'm using In ears do I really need a stage amp? and if not should i use my amp to fund a good DI and EARS?

That's a tough call. I just switched to in-ears several weeks ago, and there are still scenarios where I need an amp. Rehearsals, subbing for other bands and a bunch of et ceteras.....

At the same time, success with IEM's really depends on decent quality buds and a good seal. Don't sell your amp. Try and find any way possible to have both.

I'd keep a rig around. I have done the gig on ears, with little need for a rig, but then there was the gig my head crapped out and the ears were just fantastic by themselves. Then there was the gig the ears crapped out and the rig was awesome and glad I had it. Then there was the one show I wasn't carrying a rig and the club had little to no sound system and the sound guy said they normally count on the bass players rig to carry the room.... Yeah so order of importance? Rig, Ears, then high end di's etc...
