Theres another one I prefer, closest free thing to photoshop.I use it to do a PS requests any TB'er asks for, alot of function in this one, not to discount paint.net at all.

Not to play Johnny-come-lately (especially since I didn't read the whole thread), but I agree that JetPachyderm is clearly the best suggestion IMO. Not to mention that it would lend itself to some great artwork.
