what shuld i buy

hey every1

i play alot of rock/punk/metal and am consdering either buying a :

schecter stiletto studio 4
OR
fender standard precision bass

they both have passive pickups right?
the one thing i dont like about the schecter is having to replace batteries. how ofter usually do the batteries last for because i dont want them to stop working while im playing.

if anyone has any suggestions about other passive basses that need no batteries around the same price as those 2 basses please share them.

thanks in advance

You can't go wrong with a Fender Precision bass.

The Schecter has passive pickups but an active preamp. So yes, you would have to replace batteries. The Fender is completely passive, so no batteries at all.

So your price range is what...around $400-$700? There are a lot of decent basses you could get in that price range, and if you go for a used bass, you could get something a lot nicer for less money. My advice is to try as many basses as you can and see what feels good to you. Everybody has their own preferences.

I've been sitting here thinking that if I was just starting out, what would I get? I think one of the best deals around is a used Geddy Lee jazz bass. They're selling for around $500-$600, and it's in your price range. There are lots of them around right now because the market was saturated with them so the prices went down. Now is the time to pick one up. They're awesome basses..period.

A Geddy Lee would be great. Go for that or try to find it used for an even less price.
