What Squier bass did I just buy?

I just ordered a Squier Jazz Bass from Guitar Center for $199.99. But what am I getting? It has a rosewood (or rosewood adjacent) fingerboard, a two-color sunburst finish ... not the more standard tri-color ... and regular small dot inlays. The headstock just says Squier Jazz Bass with no markings of it being a Standard or an Affinity.

The closest I can come to through an inventory scan is a Squier '60s Classic Vibe bass.

What do you folks think I will be getting? That low price is a red flag but I've seen some great deals (and some not so great) at GC. For example I recently bought a Squier Sub 4 in excellent condition for oly $165 or $170. A great basss ... but it just didn't work for me in the type of music I play.

Not trying to be mean or anything but... shouldn't this question be addressed to Guitar Center?
How are we supposed to know? :D

Was it new or used? Do you at least have some pictures?

THe GC store wasn't open when I made the order. It is used.

Looks like my CV 60's Jazz and it's a lotta good bass for 200 bucks classic tones and look. It is also a great platform to mod or improve should you choose to go that route. Fender/Squier make it confusing as they have had so many minutely different offerings over the years, the S# might help you identify, might. There is no way oof telling since the bodies and necks are pretty much interchangeable and it is not uncommon for players to do swaps.

I think you will be find.
I have one of the newer PJ affinity models and it is a fun player. i have a family full of teenagers and they love plucking around on it also.

Humm ... I did that and it said no number came up. But I went to some other site and just talked to somebody who gave me the serial number. He said his serial number identified said it was a VM. I did another search and found it was an ICS model (Indonesia, Cort factory) and it was made in 2016. That SHOULD make it a VM as I don't think CVs were introduced until 2018.

But I looked a 2015 catalog and there were no Jazzes with a 2-color sunburst finish that I could find. And the store looked at the pickups and said they did not have the expected Duncan Designed names on them ... which makes me think it is a CV model. But, as I said, that clashes with the serial number.

Or maybe as somebody here suggested it's a partscaster, which would explain that maybe the pickups were swapped ... but wouldn't explain the 2-color sunburst finish.

I will know more when I get the thing.

At first glance it looks like a VM 60s Jazz, as they were available in 3 color burst with the tort guard and those metal knobs. IIRC, the VM line was discontinued in 2018, so a 2016 build date fits.

Somebody could easily swapped out the pups or rubbed the Duncan Designed logo off. And it's hard to tell from the one pic, but that could be a 3 color burst that has just faded with age.

That was my thought a little too. I was sort of going by the GC description but I have seen some tricolors that looked almost like bicolors.
