Just took these strings off my bass and have no idea who the maker is. I was originally thinking rotosound, but the Rotos seem to have red silks at both ends. If anyone can identify these that would be awesome. The windings are pretty rigid and the when they were on my bass the string tension was pretty stiff.

And the rotos that have silk only on the top end are the billy sheehan signature and the funkmaster if I'm not mistaken. If you had either you'd probably know because the billy sheehan has a thick 110 e string and the funkmaster strings are super light gauge.

All of the regular Rotosound 66 sets I've gotten recently have silk only at the tuners.

But as @michael_t pointed out, I would expect the Rotosound 66 to have colored ball ends.

Could have been a period when they had brass ball ends and tuner-end-only silk? Not sure.

You're right about the changes. I forget that they have changed things up lately. Different colors on the ball end now and different packaging.
