I use Chromes on my Precision. I love them. I'm glad you found something you like and is to the liking of your fellow musicians. There are plenty of G.A.S threads that display our inability to do just that.

What is funny is I love my EBMM Bongo and I liked the round wound sound with the EB Slinkys. But--I am really digging the low end sound of this Squire VMJ fretless--but not so much the g string sound. However--7 of my closest musician friends preferred it in ALL aspects. The g string sounds a little muted to me. Perhaps I need to adjust the pick up or lower it from the bridge. IDK--but there was zero hesitation from anyone as to which sound they preferred.

I thought Chromes were deeper blue, and also silked at the ball end. Like this

Years ago, Chromes used to have real dark blue silks. But the more recent ones are a lighter blue.

With a jazz bass I'd recommend you to try also a good selection of round wound strings such as Rotosound's Swingbass or Funkmaster 66 ... just for your assessment

The OP asked for an identification for the strings that came with the bass he acquired because he and his friends absolutely love them.

Why are you recommending he try a bunch of rounds at this point? Have you even read what's in this thread?

It's all good. I am not likely to change the strings now that I have been educated. However, I take in all the advice and pointers I can get. You never know--I could acquire a second jazz bass! Then I could try Rotosounds!

Yes I have read it and then? I also have the same strings installed on a P bass as I find them more suitable on P basses ... since he has just acquired a jazz bass I just thought that, when he changed the strings, he could also test some rounds ...
