What strings do I have?

Very slick and taught and zero zing. The ends on the bridge are color coded.

Any ideas? I like them and may want a new set--they were on this bass I bought used--fretless.

They are flats. I'd leave them of you like the way they sound. People treasure flats, the older the better.

I thought Chromes were deeper blue, and also silked at the ball end. Like this

Just to make sure, confirm a couple of things...

The color coded balls are Brass-Red-Black-Green.
They have silk on both ends.

flatwounds won't get dirt, because they are... flat! no gap between the windings, so no dirt inside. they'll last forever.

Jamerson broke one of his strings and sent it back to LaBella. They apologized and said they'd send him a new one. His response - "No, I wanted you to fix it and send it back."

He cut all of the Motown tracks with the same set of strings.

The lesson: The older your flats get, the better they sound!
