I have a Epiphone PR-150 acoustic guitar that sounds way to trebly and bright.Im looking for strings that will Increase the sound of the bass and get deep. I recently bought some clear tone strings for it because a guy at Guitar center recommended them.said that's what im looking for.turns out he lied. Any strings i can try that are under 20 bucks?

This is what I have on my acoustic and I really like them.

Got rid of the too bright and clacky sound on the phosphorous bronze strings I'd been using and gave it a great mellow sound.
Slightly over your $20 target but close enough that you might find them for that price if you look around.

Try some nickel rounds. They are bright at first but mellow nicely on abg. I hear many good things about tapewound strings for abg. The labellas are cheap on the carvin website. I like chromes on abg to. I'm still looking for my preferred abg strings.

pretty much any flats will help. they all have different sounds / feels, but most, if not all, will get rid of the zing.
i'm using d'addario flats on my abg (i think, unless they're chromes). i like em. sounds much better than it used to, especially when plugged in.

Guys this is a regular guitar, not a bass. For a deep sound, you're gonna want thick strings. Do a google search for "warm acoustic strings" and see what people recommend (they will probably be some kind of phosphor-bronze), and get the thickest set you can comfortably play.
That said, the Epiphone is an inexpensive guitar, and one made from laminated wood at that. Unlike with electrics, strings aren't the major tonal influence on an acoustic (it'll be a combination of wood, strings, and how well the nut and bridge are made); a more expensive solid wood guitar will likely sound better. The Epiphone is a decent instrument, but if you go tone-chasing you'll hit the ceiling quickly.

OOH, my bad. In that case Martin Silk & Steel would be a good place to start. Could also try some flatwounds for electric guitar I suppose.
