What the heck? 14 strings

If we are taking bets, I say the headstock went snap! Not that I'm saying I want that to happen, but if something doesn't work, that might be it.
Geeeezzz... this thread turned into a real bore .. at least after Page 12 anyway. Maybe Dusty couldn't rectify the electronics issues to his satisfaction? I was also hoping to see how that Christmas guitar turned out for his brother too.
i think it's obvious that dusty just isn't online much anymore. i doubt it has anything to do with problems building his instruments. for all we know he could be sick, or dead, or there could be a death in the family, or something terrible. i guess that's a grim thought, but what i'm trying to say is that maybe some bigger things came up in his life that prevent him from spending time on the internet.
just something to consider. i trust that he'll update eventually if it's possible for him to do so.

Maybe he finished the bass, picked it up, and played the lowest note, and it sent him into a trance...

I love a multi-stringed instrument as much as anyone, and I subscribe to the concept that a bass neednt only have 4 strings, but 14?!?!?!? I wonder at/about the motivation to build these kinds of basses, and if anyone would use one for anything other than solo work. Perhaps the term pragmatic simply has no application in this conversation/topic whatsoever.

Is he in a coma somewhere?
Maybe he went insane trying to keep track of all those strings and is sitting in a home somewhere in a straightjacket drooling on himself and wiggling his fingers incessantly (air bass?).
